Who likes to be in debt? Certainly, no one! But how many can truly proclaim they are debt free? When we think of debt we almost always limit it to financial or monetary. But what about the debt we carry of untold truths, unfulfilled wishes or unlived days? Each time we say something we don’t mean, or mean something we don’t say, we carry it’s burden with us. Every unfulfilled wish foists upon us its debt that we haul around as baggage which we can’t seem to relinquish. Each day that goes by, where we live a life that no longer resonates with who we are inside, we incur a debt to the one who resides within - the innermost truth of our being. As the layers of debt continue to mound, we increasingly lose touch with that truth within us until we can no longer discern between the truth and our own mendacity. But the truth always has a way of percolating from the most impenetrable cave and blossoming. There comes a time when the burden becomes excruciating to bear and nature takes its course, for however much we humans think that we have mastered the world, time still holds its monarchy. And when time and nature takes over, and the layers start to perforate and rupture, when the light of truth shines, we are left with no other choice but to come face-to-face with our own truth, with the core of our existence, however painful.
So, why wait? Why defer? Why not speak what you mean instead of what others wish to hear? Why not be who you are and not who you think you should be? Why become a mediocrity of someone else’s expectation when you can be the best of yourself? You don’t have to wait for time to catch up with your unlived life - you can live it today. -d.h.

This is a beautifully written take on being your authentic self. I completely resonated with the following: “Why become a mediocrity of someone else’s expectation when you can be the best of yourself?” It can be difficult to stand in your truth sometimes, but being yourself is always the best bet! Thanks for sharing your insight. :)

Inspirational and really well said! “Each unfulfilled desire imposes its duty on us, which we carry with us as baggage, which we, it seems, cannot refuse, the one who dwells inside is the innermost truth of our being.” The thing is that we are used to living this way because so easily, although if we tried to repay our debt, then we would find, see what our life is worth and would know ourselves more truly!
